Everything I have written since then has been informed by the scorn those men hurled at me. Storytellers obtuse enough to feed us poison and cruel enough to berate us when we protest. Straight men telling silly gay women who is in charge of our stories and that we should be quiet and respect what they decide we deserve. It is in my mind, always, the things those men said to me. And it took me a long, long, long time before I was willing to open myself up to another story. I didn’t want to do it, actually. I fought against it with my whole self, even though stories are the thing that make us human. If you re-read my first Pretty Little Liars recaps, you’ll see it. The smugness, the sarcasm, the cheap and lazy snark I wove around everything I wrote, like armor. Protecting me, but protecting you too, because I led us to the place where we were ambushed.

We heard KStew was spotted canoodling on a beach with her “gal pal.” Here’s what we think probably went down.
El: You didn’t appreciate me when I made latkes.
Dannielle: Well. I don’t even remember that, so.
El: Really?
Dannielle: No! I don’t.
El: Seriously? The pictures are on Facebook!

via EXCUSE ME: Kristen Stewart Has Maybe-Romantic Times On The Beach With Her Maybe-Girlfriend:
These pictures do little to confirm or deny the alleged romantic relationship between the perpetually sour-faced Stewart and her adorable friend. What we can tell you is that it appeared to be a magical weekend, and that some degree of snuggling appears to have transpired.
If Kristen Stewart ever whisked me away for a romantic weekend on a Hawaiian private beach, I would rub SPF 85 on her lower back and feed her pineapple slices to her heart’s content. We would sip rum cocktails with little umbrellas in them and hold hands as we strolled along the shore, the pristine waves lapping at our feet. Later, Kristen would dazzle me with her talent at the resort’s limbo competition.
False rape statistics, and conversations about the prevalence of false rape allegations, are a modern Salem Witch Trial against the women of this country who face rape culture head-on every day. And I won’t fucking stand for it.
Five Queers Of Color On What Connects Us To Our Complicated Or Mixed-Race Identities on AutostraddleThere is a sense of community that comes with being a person of color, but for some of us, settling into that community isn’t always comfortable. Because we don’t get a membership card along with our birth certificate, finding our identity comes with the burden of having to “prove” yourself. Whether you’re bi-racial, adopted, or otherwise ethnically ambiguous, there will always be that person who wants to know, needs to know: “What are you?” And while most of us have a stock answer, secretly we’re thinking “I’ve got no clue, dude.” Many of us struggle to prove our authenticity to ourselves first, and find ourselves deeply attached to little reminders of our roots. And those reminders, large or small, become the thread that weaves the stories of our lives. These are a few of those stories.
