Laneia, I’ve always thought tattoos were silly/regrettable because you’d change your mind & trends change &&&, but I heard about someone getting an = and I think it’s super cute but is that faddy? Also, how do you EVER trust someone to draw on you?
the first tattoos i got are so so dumb. they’re just stupid. i hate them. i didn’t do any research and i just got them to get them and i haaaate them.
but! the last one that i got is something that i LOVE. and it’s like a birthmark. and the way i found a person i could trust to draw on my skin is that i looked on yelp for the highest rated shops and read all the reviews and looked at their websites. then i walked into the place thinking i would make an appointment with this one guy bc his art was the art i liked the most (they had samples on the website – that’s a good thing to look for/at), but he was booked through the next 5 months and i’ll be frank with you, i didn’t have 5 months. i felt like i could die in 5 months i needed this on my arm before i died. so! against my better judgment, i went with this other guy whose art was totally NOT my style. we talked – i showed him my picture and he had a million feelings. he was super excited to do this new style, which i described to him as “a faded illustration from a vintage children’s book.” and of course he nailed it.
they do a sketch of the tattoo first, so you can tweak it from there. then they transfer it onto your skin and that’s when you make sure the placement is right. you can critique and change anything during any of this time. they can reposition the transfer as many times as you want. they’re more than willing to make it perfect for you. and then you just sit back and enjoy the feeling of getting it, because really how many times will anything ever feel like that?
anyway i have a lot of feelings about tattoos i think. i hope you find something you love.
