i majored in psychology in order to become a clinical psychologist and then i accidentally became a writer

I would just leave them. I doubt you look as gross as you think you do and they’ll heal better without makeup. Contact your doctor if they continue to look gross/not heal/seem infected.
Also re: fingernails. Put little bits of cotton in the tip of a latex/poly/nitrile glove. It’ll keep your lady safe, and your nails fresh.
