I don’t mind paying my taxes. I, personally, am something along the lines of what Republicans accuse President Obama of being – super far left, and I think the government can do quite a bit of good work with the social safety net and infrastructure with my taxes, so I’m happy to pay them. What I still don’t understand is how our government’s tax code continues to penalize people for being self-employed in an economy where there are no jobs to begin with.
YES! this article is SO MUCH TRUTH. He mentions that if you’re employed by an employer, they pay half your employment tax and you pay the other half, but “self-employed people must pay both halves, a percentage that can be up to 15.3% of total income.” I actually had to pay 30% of my income to the IRS this year (separately from what AS’s LLC had to pay, which was another nice chunk), which was really really really really neat!
