the worst part of being away from Camille is not being able to sit in the same room with her while we do our own thing, peeking up occasionally to smile at how pretty she is when she’s focusing or stressed and flips her hair every two seconds. Holiday Party Fashion Shoot: Lady Vengeance Style, by Arabelle Sicardi - I HAVE BEEN EXCITED ABOUT THIS ALL WEEK!! I’ve always had this dream about us doing our own fashion photography and having full-on photoshoots like a REAL MAGAZINE, and I love Arabelle’s work for Rookie and I love her style and her blog and, also, she’s a critter. Her first shoot for us and her words about red eyeshadow were just as spectacular as I’d hoped. (Also, Fit for a Femme did a fashion shoot for us this week too! It’s called Fit for a Femme’s Guide to Dressing Up to Meet the Family and it’s got some really fancy special advice for you. I love her.)

BPM: Kate Boy, The One with The Fictitious Androgynous Band Member - BPM or “Booze Paired With Music” is our newest music column by Jeanie Chung - “a brief exposé on artists, popular or obscure, to suit your need for beats. Along with it, we offer a little treat to make for yourself while you bask in the sound of glory and a drink well done. As a former DJ, violinist, aca-bopper, and hip-hop dancer, I try to bring you as much variety in artists and commentary as I can. Listen on!”

Imagining a Better World For Trans Women Survivors Of Domestic Violence, by Morgan Collado: “The reach of intimate partner violence in my life still amazes me. Emotional violence in relationships leaves scars that are deep and knotted. It has taken years and lots of love, both self-love and love from others, in order to ease out the tension that ties up my body. But being a survivor has shown me how resilient I can be because I am still alive. I can take the shit that the world has thrown at me and turn it into a garden.”

This is more reality than A&E can actually handle. If you have reality TV premised on finding buffoonish characters, cartoon characters, manipulation, cruelty, you’re probably going to get a lot of homophobia, misogyny, and racism in there somewhere too and I think it actually would be great to show that on air more than not… Homophobia is a political structure. He cites his interpretation of the Bible for it. There are many evangelicals who believe this way, so let’s have a conversation about that and why these views exist and are there other Christian alternatives to these beliefs and is there a different interpretation of the Bible rather than just sort of gunning for this guy to get fired.
