Not all of my experiences as an intersex person inform my being gay, and vice versa, but the overlap is there and it affects things in ways that are both good and complicated at a time in history when homophobia and intersexphobia are alive and kicking. It’s not always easy to be intersex and gay; in these moments I remind myself that this is because of how society perceives us right now, and not because of me, myself. Because it’s okay to be who I am.
So I’m catching up on Pretty Little Liars (thanks Becca! partybasilisk) and of course reading the corresponding Heather Hogan recaps and like just look at this. This is literally my process. I am literally doing this right now with a girl. Girls are insane. Girls who like girls even moreso!
This discussion of Chang is really brilliant. I wanted to see so much more from her. I want them to rewrite it all and make it realistic and innovative and last a few episodes at least. She is a goldmine of a character and the writers may have squelched it.
When we see women in armor, or in suits, we think of them as strong and powerful. When we see men in a dress, it’s somehow demeaning. I don’t agree with that or believe it at all. The costume Kevin gets was not meant for him, but it empowers him. It’s tied to his strength and abilities, and having it allows him to become a hero.
I could see the Magic Wand turning me in to the laziest masturbator ever. All I have to do to come is to lay back and wait for an orgasm to happen to me? I can’t imagine wanting this all the time but also I will finish this paragraph when my legs are working again.
I know you can bring your mother along further along the metaphorical road to trans allyship. It will take time. It will take a lot of patience. It will be worth it.
