Pentacles feel a bit like the underdog of the tarot. They’re usually the last suit in a newly-unshuffled deck, the last chapter in the book, somehow the least special-feeling suit. Because the pentacles cards tends to depict themes of finance, domesticity and work, they are often viewed as unglamorous, boring or rigid. Well, in this installment of Fool’s Journey I want to tell you about how magical they really are!

Fool’s Journey: Finding the Magic in the Suit of Pentacles

Your last question was “How do you ignore your fears?” and I think you don’t. You stare them down and ask them what the fuck their deal is, and then you take notes and get to know them inside and out because you can’t get above a thing you don’t understand. You climb up to the top of yourself and look at how small things are from way up there. You do some cross-referencing and cartography. You make a list of what you can still see from the top of your very self and you scribble stars around them because they’re what matter. You think about your intentions so hard and for so long that they almost manifest themselves right there, because your intentions are your Patronus. Then you climb down and keep your fears close and your intentions closer, and you set out on a noble quest to be your selfiest self.

Put simply, there is a woman of color behind every product on the market today, especially in apparel, packaged foods and household goods. … I want to use this time to reflect on these questions: What does it mean to me, to know that a woman of color is behind everything that I buy? How many women contributed to my Instagram feed? Even more disturbingly, how much of my female empowerment — whether it’s through fashion or DIY or delicious food — comes at the cost of another woman’s disempowerment?

When I first saw this scene I didn’t think it would end like this — I didn’t think Karma would say “I can’t” like that.

Karma’s feelings for Amy aren’t necessarily unusual for a platonic teenage friendship between women, even straight ones. These friendships are often at the center of movies about girls, especially dark tragic movies and dark comedies, because these intense friendships can be such wild, complicated, illogical things. They can be so passionate that it’s not unusual for them to even occasionally turn sexual, regardless of the girls’ orientation, and I don’t have any doubts these two could easily get into that murky territory, too. Karma and Amy could be friends with benefits, easily. But there’s a big leap between sexual chemistry and love and what it takes to build a romantic relationship, and Karma doesn’t think she can make that leap.

There’s a part of me that doesn’t believe her, though. Not because it’s unusual for a best friend to say “we’re going to be together forever,” but it is unusual for a best friend to say that knowing how easily those words could mislead and wound. It’s like she has no consciousness in this conversation, just raw emotion, which suggests she could be revealing things about her feelings without knowing that she is.

There’s also a part of me that believes her because, well, she told the truth, knowing that she’d lose Amy if she did. For maybe the first time this season she’s being completely honest — both of them are, for once, they are finally just saying exactly what they mean.

10 Potential L Word / Empire Crossover Plots That Would Definitely Blow Up The Chart(s)

Struck by a sudden burst of inspiration, Lucious decides to produce an album with fellow Philadelphia native and R&B legend Kit Porter. He’s particularly enthusiastic about recording Kit’s legendary ode to menopause, which he thinks will be a big hit on Apex Radio. Kit has known the Lyon family since waaaaayyy back and is a totally weird aunt to the boys. She can’t figure out how to use her iPhone, but Jamal offers to teach her how to set up her email because he’s a pretty nice guy. At some point, the attention Lucious is paying to Kit pisses off Cookie, so she looks up Ivan Aycock and signs him in an attempt to steal Kit’s limelight. Shenanigans ensue.
