These games are thought of as high-fantasy escapism, but they can also be safe places to explore sexism, gender roles, mental illness, war, racism, and more. Ann Eriksen describes her game, We Were W.A.S.P., as a “bromance” between four women in the air force. W.A.S.P. was nominated for Best Roles and Best Storytelling at Fastaval 2014, Denmark’s freeform & board game competition and convention. It is also included in the War Birds anthology.

My very first Liquor in the ______ back in 2012 was my mulled wine recipe. Right now, I’m in Pennsylvania at my fiancée’s family’s house — back when I made this the first time, my fiancée was my girlfriend. Things change. Updates are required. In the intervening three years, a few things have changed about it. I’ve tried a few different iterations, one notable disaster using grapefruit my fiancée bought by accident (do not recommend) and one using pomegranates. That’s the one we’re going to make today.

This was, in my opinion, the best year ever for trans women characters in comics. Madeleine Flores and Trillian Gunn’s all-ages comic Help Us! Great Warrior introduced us to the trans warrior Leo. In Batgirl #45 Barbara Gordon was the maid of honor in Alysia Yeoh’s wedding. Sera continued to be one of the best written characters in all of Marvel comics in 1602: Witchhunter Angelaand Angela: Queen of Hel where she gets to make out with the title character. Over in The Wicked + The Divine we found out that Cassandra is in fact one of the Pantheon. Alysia popped up again over in DC Comics Bombshells as a member of the terrific team of Batgirls. Of course, no recap of trans women in comics would be complete without talking about Jo from Lumberjanes. In a very touching issue she talks about being trans and finding her community in the Lumberjanes with Barney, a Scouting Lad who’s having some of his own identity issues.

Trans women aren’t just appearing on the pages, though. Artist Sophie Campbell is doing a brilliant job over at Jem and the Holograms and Oni Pressrecently announced that it will be reissuing her book Wet Moon with new cover art and her correct name. Also, when Tess Fowler took over as artist for Rat Queens, Tamra Bonvillain, another trans woman, joined the team as colorist.

Call it the Janelle Monae effect, or just an increase in dapper: suits for all people of all genders have gone majorly mainstream. This increase in suit popularity means you (yes you) can pick up a two-piece looker for yourself, just in time to look suave for the holidays. The good news? Many people having been wearing a blazer and pants in less than formal ways. Crisp white shirts are always classic, but why not be a little daring? Try your blazer with a casual tee, a henley, even something sheer. Looking for suit inspiration? These folks have it in spades!

Gosh, there’s a lot to talk about. We need a place to have some grown-up conversations about queer parenting decisions. You may have noticed we’ve been publishing a lot of baby stuff lately. You hopefully followed Haley‘s Queer Mama vlog, chronicling her and her partner Simone’s adventures in making their perfect small human, Juniper Jude. Caitlin broke and healed our hearts by sharing her experiences with pregnancy after a miscarriage and her babies,Anders and Graeson. We’re published essays about baby-making as a single black lesbian, DIY insemination, and navigating pregnancy and trauma.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg under the queer parenting tag. There is so much to say about queer parenting and there are so many questions.

So many, in fact, that we asked you to send us your questions about queer baby-making, family-growing, and parenting. Then, we gathered together a group of folks who can speak from a range of personal experiences to answer. And here we are! Of course, there are many parenting perspectives that are not represented here and these fine folks can’t represent all queer parents’ experiences. So we hope you will continue to ask questions, educate each other, share your experiences, and discuss these topics in the comments.
