Slice is the number one search result on Google when you move to a new city and look up “lesbian bars (your city).” Slice’s aesthetic is a little bit like stepping into a lava lamp. Lots of pink and purple hues, and furniture is maybe floating? The music is so loud that the bartenders are already furious at you for even trying to order a drink. You won’t be getting the additional water you ordered, and shame on you for coming here tonight.

Lesbian Bars I Definitely Made Up But Probably Exist

Television doesn’t necessarily need to draw these lines in every case anymore. Labels used to hold much more significance on television when queer characters were more rare. They were an easy way to achieve visibility. But more subtle storytelling can be just as effective, as well as true to the way many people think about their sexuality in the real world — as long as writers are using it for meaningful character development, and not as a ratings grab or a way to tick the “diversity” check box.

My copies of Juliet Takes a Breath arrived today! I finally have one for me & a bunch to send out to reviewers & maybe for baby queers who need one.

The purchase of this many copies wouldnt have been possible without an unexpected and totally heart-warming donation from an Autostraddler. Thank you for investing funds in me.

Even though I’m practicing my koselig to be more okay with winter, that doesn’t mean I’m not counting down the days until I see green again. I’ve had my fill of warm drinks — what can I make that both reminds me of a warmer season, but doesn’t feel out of season? Enter The Abbey — except I’m going to make it with blood orange because a) that’s what I have in my kitchen and b) I like the color of blood oranges (makes me feel like I’m drinking liquid rubies or some shit).
