Do you have to go to your homophobic asshole cousin’s wedding? How do you tell your more-than-friends friend that you’ve slept with her ex? Is 22 too old to still be as pure and virginal as the driven snow? Get in here and find out!
Y’all Need Help #5: Being a Virgin Doesn’t Make You Straight
…when we played House in Kindergarten, I would pretend to be a carpenter. I was way too happy when Princess Aurora hugged me at Disneyland, and way too annoyed when loser guys hit on particular female friends. I desperately wanted to be “best friends” with smart, beautiful, cool girls, and most of my close friends, the ones who understood me best, were Queer women.
Yet I always considered myself “straight, with exceptions.” But at what point do your exceptions disprove the rule? When your exception count is over 10, you might want to start rethinking it. It took me well until my late-mid-twenties, but I finally did.
For friends/followers who are fans of THE GET DOWN.
They’re doing open casting calls for speaking roles for black and latinx actors in their late teens/early twenties via video audition on projectcasting.com - they’ve got all the information there. They did this for Season One too before the show first aired but I don’t know if anyone ended up cast that way, but still, this is a good opportunity. Open video auditions for major shows/movies are very rare. Projectcasting is legit by all accounts though I’ve never done anything through them personally - I believe they do mostly extra work (they’ve been posting extra jobs for Season One of the show off and on), but every now and then projects will reach out via their platform to audition for actual roles so it’s worth checking out IMO.
Here’s the show’s page on their site:

The open casting call is the most recent update at the top of the page, but you might want to check back on it off and on through the coming months even if the casting call doesn’t pan out for later opportunities.
