Hey, and please don’t get sensitive and misunderstand what I’m saying here. Don’t take it personally. Because if you take it personally, I’ll need to explain myself and the more you look at me like that the more defensive and flustered I get and now I’ve chosen the wrong words and yeah, I said that, but I didn’t mean it LIKE THAT. And now we’re caught up in this processing cycle, where whatever I say to try to clarify my point of view only seems to make you more and more hurt and I don’t understand why and for some reason you can’t hear what I’m saying, and now we’ve moved on from processing to actually processing the processing, and why is this happening and how can we fix it but then we realize we’re getting our periods and oh, of course, it all makes sense now and oh, how we’ll laugh and laugh and laugh. (After we’re done crying.)

vaginas do have a relatively specific smell and taste, and some women smell stronger than others – some of that depends on factors like “how much did you sweat today” or “when did you last take a shower” “what did you eat today” – but despite my superhuman sense of smell (seriously i can smell everything it’s ridiculous, i’m impossible b/c most smells gross me out, like restaurants), i’ve never felt the feelings you are currently feeling about anyone’s vadge.

but baby, if you have a vagina too, then her vagina isn’t your entire sample population. how do you feel about your own smell. look into it. contrast and compare.

does she smell “terrible” even right after showering? i’m not a doctor and probably should not be giving out medical advice, but it sounds like she might have BV? sometimes the only symptom is a really extreme strong pungent version of the traditional vaginia smell. It’s not an STD, it can be cured quickly with antibiotics and is not a big deal. or maybe it’s another kind of infection, idk. She should go to the gyno and see what’s up. Maybe you can go on a date to planned parenthood to be responsible sexual creatures. Vagisil makes a VI screening kit, but i’m pretty sure based on the cost of said kit that its existence is somehow supporting a patriarchal system of power that takes advantage of women’s limited access to health services by charging people out the whazoo for a stick of plastic.

if she’s got a clean bill of health and you still hate the smell then i don’t know what to tell you.

How do I move on when the person I love only loves me some days? Are you familiar with BPD? She has that. I don’t think I’ll ever love anyone as much as her. She said, “You deserve the best version of myself there is. Only, she’s so fleeing.”

Mhm. Did you see that poem/song on Autostraddle this week? The word “borderline” in that poem is referring to BPD.

Anyhow the truth is I really don’t know what you should do, and I think when dealing with something like that it’s better that I say nothing rather than make judgments based on my own small pile of experiences with various peoples with BPD. Personality disorders are tricky. You should talk to a professional or maybe look up some books? When I was besties with a girl with BPD and when i was dating a girl with bipolar disorder AND when i was somehow the primary caretaker for a guy with bipolar and schizo-affective something, i found talking to my own therapist helped a lot, or to my mom (she’s a social worker), because they knew more about these things than any layperson can.
