Today’s one of those days where I can’t decide what I’m in the mood for and so I’ve been incredibly annoying to myself / others.
This morning I listened to my girlfriend’s album in the car and then when I arrived at the office I played the first few songs from Sufjan Stevens’ Illinois. I stopped when I got the urge to listen to Holly Miranda’s cover of Tool’s Ænema, which then inspired me to play the actual Ænema record. At around the “Forty Six & 2” mark i got sidetracked by links holly’d shot through to an old demo for “Sleep on Fire” and also a song I’d never heard before. Next I needed to write an ad, so I put on my concentration soundtrack which is an album called Bumpin’ In The Basement by Bobby Leatherbarrow who’s a fucking phenomenal jazz drummer and all round good guy from LA. When that was over I listened to the Reznor/Ross The Social Network soundtrack (half of it) and then Deftones’ Around the Fur album (all of it) and then Warpaint’s The Fool (most of it). Now I’m listening to Adele’s new album and it’s good but I think what i really want to be listening to is The Cure or maybe The Clash, definitely something starting with ‘C’.
