Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Instead of spending money on chocolates and flowers, why not spend your time telling the world why you love being Trans* and/or how you show Trans* and gender non-conforming people love?  You can do a skit, a dance, a song, or whatever creative thing you think up.

The videos will be posted on our tumblr and facebook from February 7th-14th, 2011 during Trans* love week. The producer of the winning video will receive a free t-shirt, sticker, and button pack.

Please submit your video to orders@legalizetrans.com by February 6th.

Do you think I will feel better about myself if I cut celebrity magazines/websites from my life? I feel so ugly right now,

YES. YES. YES.
I think it’s our natural instinct to compare, even unconsciously, and the images take up SO much unnecessary space.

The times in my life when I’ve been the happiest and least insecure were the times that I was most isolated from popular media or most exposed to real actual human beings.

This is why every time I go to Los Angeles, I leave hating myself and caring about 4-5 things my rational mind knows I should never ever care about.

So stop it!

Is there some secret about how to make friends at concerts because I’ve been going to local shows for 2 years and I haven’t made any permanent friends.

I think maybe the trick is to get their contact details and follow up with invitations to participate in non-music related activities. Local shows are a great place to identify people who share similar interests, but it’s impossible to bond while shouting over the top of a live band in a busy club, or in the 5 minutes it takes to smoke a cigarette in the alley in between sets.

After not seriously crying for months, I just sobbed for ten minutes after getting home and finding that my mom was eating the last of the spaghetti and meatballs I wanted for dinner. I feel ridiculous. This is just really bad PMS or something, right?

ok just because you’re the first girl she’s dated since her breakup, doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re her rebound girlfriend.
right?
i think you just have fun with her now and don’t worry about what this all ‘means’ or what 'kind’ of 'girlfriend’ you 'are.’
also really what’s so bad about being someone’s rebound? maybe think of it as an honor or something.

So my town had one autostraddle meetup and I havent heard of any events since then. Was there a conspiracy to exclude me, or is my city just really lame?

probably everyone is still nervous sitting at home thinking that everyone else hated them and their hair didn’t look as cute as it usually looks and they talked too much about coming out or buffy or harry potter. you gals should call/email each other today and tell each other “YOU PEOPLE ARE SO WEIRD, LET’S HAVE SOME FUCKING BRUNCH ALREADY” ok? ok everyone do this today!
