i really like it when my bed is next to the window, so that you can watch rain on it/be aware of whether any birds’ nests are being built outside it. i also believe in being able to see the door from any sitting/laying down position. my rule of thumb is to make sure your bed is the only furniture available to sit on in your bedroom so that any girls who come over have no choice but to sit on it next to you. bookcases should be in viewing range of the bed so you can decide what you want to read before you walk over and get it. i hope that helps.
