See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Dear Riese, did u actually hire an awesome lesbian transwoman to write for ur site? If so u r the most awesome/hardcore/ inclusive/ openminded/ cutting edge person on the internet. My luv for the site just tripled.

Awww thank you!

YES ISN’T SHE FANTASTIC? I came across Annika’s blog via tumblr meanderings (I think?) and immediately emailed Laneia (Executive Editor of Emails) in all caps that she needed to get Annika on board stat. It was the same feeling I had when I first saw Gaby’s movie, first read Sebastian’s blog, first talked to Taylor at a party and first found Carmen’s tumblr, like – “Oh I don’t know if anyone’s told you this, but you’re supposed to be writing for this website? It’s called Autostraddle.com? You should probably start working on your intro post.”

I feel really blessed that we’re popular enough now that when we talk, there are a lot of smart/inquisitive/loving people listening, and that when I see a writer I like, we can make them write for us despite us not having the resources to pay anyone yet.

Queers always talk about wanting straight people to just hear our stories b/c it’s been statistically proven that people who know gays are less likely to vote against our civil rights. But we don’t even know each other’s stories, you know?

Sometimes it feels scary, like a dream that I’ll wake up from, a dream where I’ve managed to create a thing that matters and from which point I can tell people YOU DO YOU and some of them actually will. A dream where the compliments you give us are true. In which can try to recognize my white cisgender privilege and act responsibly. Instead of building up abstract anger while reading about injustices both within and outside of queer/feminist circles, we can take action. That’s the best feeling in the world.

The larger cultural conversation needs to be more inclusive. No harm can ever come from knowing more (unless it’s like, your girlfriend cheated on you, in which case ignorance is bliss, nobody needs a play-by-play, the cliffs notes version is enough).

thank you, thank you, thank you.

Ask Riese a brand new thing

so i love sexing a girl as much as i love her sexing me, and i think lots of you can prob agree. i LIKE touching girls and making them feel good. this weekend i slept with this girl and she was INCREDIBLE and so so so good allll night….like seriously, s

stellar. but like… she wouldnt let me touch her. she would let me touch her boobs and kiss her all over but INSISTED on keeping her pants on (and i tried to take them off. at least 15 times). and it wasnt her lady problem week. WHAT IS THE DEAL HERE?!?!

—-

sometimes people don’t want to be touched below the belt! it’s totally a thing. maybe she doesn’t feel comfortable b/c she barely knows you. or maybe she will never want to be touched. or maybe she didn’t like her underwear that night. there are a bajillion reasons, and they’re all valid.
you could ask her. i mean, you probably *should* ask her.

Ask Laneia something small or large

The Person Who Spends Time Informing Others That They Feel The Article Wasted Their Time. Despite the fact that the internet does not obligate anyone to read any single item of content hosted thereupon, these individuals enjoy suffering. They will read articles by authors they hate on topics they hate and then post comments about how much they hated it or how they feel more stupid for having read the article in its entirety, for example. It seems likely that refusing to read the article or simply closing the window in which it appears is much more time-efficient than reading the article, logging in to post a snarky comment, typing the comment, and waiting for the article to update to reflect their comment, but they appear unconcerned with such temporal logic. Further, this individual is, despite all logic, to return to the article to engage in argument with people who note they are being needlessly spiteful, posting further comment and spending more time on the article they so highly resent for having wasted their time.” (Leigh Alexander)
