In our panel, we discussed a cultural phenomenon known as the ‘post-gay’ identity, an identity that assumes that the ‘gay community’ has moved ‘beyond the closet,’ therefore making race, class, and gender equity that much more accessible. Post-gay sort of assumes that because we’re living in a society that’s becoming slowly but steadily more tolerant toward gays and lesbians, we have no more obstacles to overcome. Post-gay expects that women feel safe and welcome in spaces that have traditionally belonged to men. It believes that ‘mixed’ atmospheres can occur organically just because we’ve eliminated the necessity of the closet. ‘Post-gay’ is insistent on moving past struggle.
But the struggle continues. Because we’re not post-gay. We’re not post-anything, except maybe post-WWII or post-90s boy-band phenomena, both of which are fine. The LGBT community has the power to become a huge moving force in the progressive community. Why? Because we’re fucking everywhere (I mean that in every sense).

Uh, I’m not sure where else to ask this…My girlfriend and I want to buy a strap on, but it seems like there are so many different structures (o ring, vac-u-lock, 4 way adjustable). Do you have any suggestions, or could you refer me to an online guide?
Oh, and I’d like to add that I’m looking for a thorough, detailed guide. I already know some things about the fit (adjustable not stretchy, round the thigh not thong). I just don’t know about the structure

I’m thinking about buying an HTC Thunderbolt. I’m worried about the battery life. Is it as bad as some online reviewers say?
It depends on how much you plan on keeping 4G on. I have a 4G phone and I hardly ever turn it on (it’s spotty and it burns through the battery life FAST). usually 3G is sufficient…4G is still kinda rough around the edges and will be for a while still. but the thunderbolt is a totally sweet phone

okay so what’s the packaging for the AS t shirts like? seriously contemplating getting one, I just need to know what to expect in terms of parental questioning.. I know you get this a lot, it just seems to defer from time to time….
The t-shirts get thrown in a 9x13 sized manilla/brown-colored envelope. I hand-write the addresses and names. The only indication about where this package would come from is the return address label I stick on there, which says (in very small type) “autostraddle.com”.
So it’s quite discreet, but if you’d like me to cross/blank-out the name of our website on the return address label, I can absolutely do that too and then the package is really completely anonymous :)
