See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna
An artist (a generic term covering poet, composer, painter, sculptor, perhaps novelist) consciously or unconsciously takes a vow of obedience to awareness. In order not to be lost in the whirl of time, either past or present, the artist must look at all things with the energy and clarity of a hyperthyroid Buddha. Frankly, this awareness is not always fun.

do you have/ would you like to have an ebook reader? why/ why not?

i do not own an ebook reader, unless you count the free kindle app i have downloaded to my computer, which i guess you can count if you want and call me a hypocrite. i am sort of weirded out by them and do not want to own one for a few reasons. 1) i almost never buy books, i take them out from our nation’s amazing resource of a public library system or i borrow them or they are given to me, and a kindle does not support that system of not spending $20 every time you want to read words about the human experience 2) as you have heard before, there are really genuine physical pleasures in books, like falling asleep with your face on them and writing inside the the jacket for your friends and writing in margins and reading what other people have written in margins and perusing the bookshelf of someone you love and being reminded of why you love them 3) i am weirded out by an invention that turns something that has always been a sort of universal human pleasure and is meant to transcend class and money (see: every literacy narrative ever) and making it an elite experience for the rich and well-educated. reading should level the playing field, not help define its unevenness. it’s upsetting to me as a writer and a reader and someone who has spent significant periods of her life broke to see reading turned into a luxury good. which is what kindles are. (see: sherman alexie.)

however i understand there are good things about them, and i have one friend who is like a hardcore nature poet and wears flannel every day and does interpretive dances about his feelings and he LOVES his new kindle, so what do i know?

how do you ask out a girl if you are unsure she’s into girls. you are sure you’re into her.

you know how most heterosexuals just walk around like the whole world is heterosexual? and they ask out whichever oppositely-sexed person they please, all the while assuming everyone is straight as an arrow? and when someone happens to be gay, they act sort of confused, maybe a little embarrassed, but for the most part it doesn’t phase them and they carry on as usual? just do that, but gayer.

Ask Laneia something small or large
